Post-Accident Steps
If you are ever in an accident, refer to these post-accident steps to handle the situation as best as possible:
- Check yourself for injuries and the well-being of your passengers.
- Call 911 or have a passenger or bystander do so. DO NOT move if you feel you are seriously injured.
- Get to a safe area. If you are able to, move to the side of the road or sidewalk.
- Exchange information with the involved parties.
- Full name and contact information
- Insurance company and policy number
- Driver’s license and license plate number
- Type, color and model of vehicle
- Location of accident
- Take photos of the vehicles involved.
- Do not admit to liability or fault – simply state the facts
- Do not make a deal with the insurance company or give statements
